Yeah, baby! It's the season for cinnamon rolls. Not really winter, but not fall anymore either. Perfect! I love these when they are still slightly warm with a coffee and a good book to go along.

As a perfect read while eating a ~~whole bowl of cinnamon lovelie~~s snack, I highly recommend Ann Pearlman's novel The Christmas Cookie Club. It makes you laugh and cry and unbelievably hungry. Run and check it out. It's a fantastic read.

Oh, and check out my apron. It was a three-day-sewing project, but totally worth it. I love the fabrics and yes, it's a total coincidence that my sweater and nail polish match the pattern of the fabrics. Yeah, who's going to believe that?!

Lovely Bookmarks

I am a huge fan of magnetic bookmarks. They stay in place, don't tear the pages and they don't make me forget, where I stopped reading. (Obviously, cause they are bookmarks.)

I just placed a lovely order at a German online shop and got myself these wonderful bookmarks, which warm my anglophile heart. How do you like them?

Do you use bookmarks? If yes, what kind of bookmarks do you prefer? Magnetic or classical ones? Or do you just put your book on a table upside down? Do you even fold the upper corner of page? Please say no! *g* Let us know!

And I am not just sayin' that cause you might catch a glimpse at Ashton Kutcher half naked. *g* It's such a wonderful movie, makes you laugh & cry and show respect to these amazing folks at the US Coast Guard. Do you eat healthy?

Eating healthy and eating 'good stuff' was and still is a struggle for me in a learning process, that will always go on. I feel like I have never learned to make good choices when it came to eating, so I had to teach myself throughout my adult years.

As long as I can think, I am struggling with my weight. It goes up and down and up again. I am good at losing weight, but as soon as I do not take good care about my eating, my weight detonates.

And then, there were migraines. Heavy migraines. Those, which make you stay in bed and wish you were dead. After writing into my diary, what I did, ate and drank on migraine days, I figured out that food and drinks had a huge impact on my headaches.

This summer, I decided to do something for me, for my body and soul. I am in my early thirties, right? I have a kid and I should be able to move my body for a game of soccer or long walks in fall. So, I had to change something.

First of all, I cut off junk food and sweats. Not completely, but most of it. More greens and fresh products helped me lose weight. I totally avoid artificial sweetener, cause that helps me to get rid of migraines. Add some pilates and yoga workout and here's the new me. Minus 28lbs. So far. I hope to make that more in the next months. And minus these heavy migraines. Woohoo for that, too!

It's easy as that? Nope. I repeat my daily mantras several times a day:

Make good choices.
Eat healthy.
Buy quality.
Enjoy your meals.

You know what really inspired me? Jamie Oliver's way of cooking. Regional & seasonal products. Add passion and a feeling for the product and for what you're doing. Have fun while preparing something good for you and the people you love. I totally recommend Jamie's cook books, especially this one, Jamie at Home. Oh, how I love this book. It's inspiring and easy and oh so yummie.

And in case, you are in the US, you may wanna check out this interview with Jamie and Jilian Michaels. It's very true what Jamie has to say and as I know that lots of my readers do have kids, it might be something you are interested in. Have fun reading and cooking!

I am still learning

I am still learning to be a mom. My kid is five and will be six by the end of the month, but I feel like I still have to learn a lot. Stay calm. Don't yell (although I am not very successfull with that one from time to time), try to understand your kid and make sure to spend some quality time together. Don't be too selfish. Share the love.

We had a rough week, with fights and arguments and -yes- yelling. Crying. I hated it.

Today was much better. I had fun being a mom today and I know, it was because I had a little talk to myself and decided to calm down and not detonate at every stressful situation. Relax and be understanding. Not demanding. It felt good. I hope I can keep the good vibes coming.

Being a mom is great. Hard work, but worth every second. I am still learning. You?

I was reading the German LoveLetter Magazin last week. It's all about romance books. Yes girls, something wonderful as that really exists! I like that magazin, but when they were introducing the new book releases, I missed the contemporaries. It's all paranormal these days. What happened to ordinary romance?? Am I the only one who is interested in reading a 'normal' love story. Without blood suckers or werewolves or heroes changing into leopards or something. What's wrong in the reading world?

Are contemporary romances on their way to the graveyard and will they be buried right next to historicals? Please anybody, can you step up and help me out here?

Too Good 2 Be True

I have never been a vampire person. Or a fan of vampire romance. I love Stephenie Meyer's Twilight books. The first one especially, but that's it. I read Erin McCarthy's Vegas Vampire, cause I like some of her other books and thought these might be good. But that's it. No more vampires for me.

I haven't read L.J. Smith's Vampire Diaries books, but when the show started running in Germany, I thought Id give it a try. I wasn't a fan from the first minute, but kept on watching, cause there was nothing else on TV on Monday nights. But then, some episodes into season1, I got hooked. Now, I keep on watching cause I think Damon is super hot. And I love how he is deeply in love with Elena, although he knows, that she loves his brother. Weird, huh?

Anyway, as a fan of Damon, I am obviously following Ian Somerhalder on Twitter. And here's the reference to the title...Isn't that guy too good to be true? All that smashin' looks and apart from filming, it seems he is doing something good all the time. What is he? A human superhero? Some kind of angel?

Let me know what you think. I think, he and his ISF (Ian Somehalder Foundation) are doing an amazing job. He is a great actor. He's got some stunning physique and is amazing when it comes to facial expression. Thoughts?

Heroes, Heroines and other unimportant stuff

You know, I am a romance reader. Addicted to romance. Deeply in love. You get the picture, right? ;o)

I am also very much focused on the hero. I like alpha males. As in really alpha. All rippling muscles and dirty talk. I like a potty mouth. Some strong "Fuck!" here and there. Swearing. Supporting and taking care of 'their' women. This whole possessive thinking. Leadership is a great value when it comes to heroes. That's why I prefer books with firefighters or NFL superstars. I recently read an article about how there is a whole new branch of romance developing at the moment. It's romance about Navy SEALS. Suzanne Brockmann wrote about them years and years ago (and still does), but there are some new authors to it, which do pretty good jobs. I can highly recommend Marliss Melton, BTW.

I like my heroes physically male. Six packs (or eight packs), shaped biceps, lovely pecs. Yeah, give it to me, baby. But then, nobody wants to read about unattractive nerds, right? Cowboys work for me, too.

I even like male/male romance, when it's done with believable emotions and not just about the whole grunting and stuff. *g* Erotica is fine, but good stuff is hard to find. Most of it is porn. About the sex only and I cannot believe how stupid some of the plots are. *rollingmyeyes* But then there is the extraordinary good stuff, such as Olivia Cunning's Sinners On Tour series. Holy Moly! These are hot, but involved into such a great plot and characters with very deep souls. I love these books. Impressive, I might say.

Okay, back to the heroes. Here is what can totally make me put a book down:

- Heroes with ponytails. Ugh! Really?? Do you know a good book with a long haired hero? I know some of you are totally in love with Rourke (sp?) from J.D. Robb's In Death series, but he so does not work for me. The hair, you know.

- Facial hair. As in caveman style. I like facial hair a lot. Such as here, but I am not into VERY hairy.

- I have a problem with hair in general, it seems. *g* I can totally handle baldness, BTW. Vin Diesel style, very sexy.

- Dumb heroines. Not with a slightly naive side or sth like that, but these very dumb and totally emotional chicks. Drama, drama, drama. Thankyouverymuch.

Okay, anybody has an opinion on this very strange and confused post?!

While cooking today I was listening to one of my favorite albums of all times: Kenny Chesney's Greatest Hits II. I love it. Deeply. Every little note of it.

And then this song came up: I go back.

In case you don't know it, it's about how some songs make you go back to things, people, places that happened to you. Just like when you hear Time of my life and that one amazing line pops into your head, "Nobody puts Baby in a corner!". You know what I mean, right?

So, do you go back? What songs make you go back? Here is my random choice:

This first one is German, cause - ya know - I am German and this totally reminds me of the first parties I attended. Of BBQs and camp fires. Summer holidays. It's Die Ärzte with Westerland.
Then there is Christina Stuermer with Mama (Ana Ahabak). My baby boy loved this song. When he was crying and nothing could make him calm down, we took a slow dance and he was asleep within ten seconds. This really is a special song to me.
New Kids On The Block? Oh yeah, baby! I was madly in love with Donnie Wahlberg. This still is one of their best songs ever IMO. Hangin' Tough.
Another German one, but it is with English lyrics also. Xavier Naidoo with Ich kenne nichts (das so schoen ist wie du). DH bought that single CD ways back. "It reminded me of you", he said. No chance, I couldn't fall in love with that man. *g*
Some years later, he came home with another CD. Ronan Keating with If tomorrow never comes. It was a present for me. Cause he thought I might like it. I did. A lot. I love you, man.

Fall Into Fashion

Now, that the mornings are more chilly and slowly - very slowly - the leaves start to change into amazing colors, I feel like adding some items to my fall wardrobe. I liked these. Normal Wednesday

On a normal Wednesday morning like today, this is what I might be doing.

5.43 am: Wake up before the alarm clock does wake me.
5.45 am: Push the button on the alarm clock, cause it gets louder and the beeps go faster every ten seconds or so.
6.00 am: Finally get up.
6.02 am: Get into the shower after having done my hair with sth like 100 pins.
6.15 am: Hop out of the shower, brush teeth, put on make-up.
6.30 am: Tell DH that he can use the bathroom. I am done in there.
6.31 am: Get dressed.
6.35 am: Cannot find matching socks in the dark. Switch on light. DH gets grumpy.
6.40 am: Take a peek at the kid, who is still asleep.
6.41 am: Make coffee!! Make breakfast for me and the kid. Make lunch boxes ready to go.
7.00 am: Wake up the kid, who opens his eyes and wants a joghurt with fruit.
7.05 am: Check e-mails. Check facebook. Check twitter. Take first sip of coffee. Aaaahhhhh!!
7.15 am: Tell the kid to get dressed.
7.16 am: Hush DH out of bed and make the beds.
7.18 am: Tell the kid to get dressed.
7.20 am: Put the dirty dishes into the dishwasher. Clean up the living room from the evening before.
7.21 am: Tell the kid to GET DRESSED!
7.25 am: Help the kid to get dressed and cleaned up.
7.30 am: Hurry out of the house to get the kid to the daycare and arrive at work in time.

Yeah, that's just everyday routine in the mornings before work. Trust me, you don't wanna know about the rest of the day. It gives you headaches. Happy Wednesday!

Motherhood

I love sewing. Especially everything girly and pink and cute. Little decorations for girl's rooms melt my heart. But then the Lord gave me a boy and I am stuck in the middle of Disney's Cars nightmare.

Don't get me wrong. I think Cars is a very cute movie. Lightning is cool and Sally is just perfect. I live Mater. Totally do. But all that stuff, that's flooding the 5-year-old's room... *sigh*

So instead of sewing lovely pink cuties, I did actually sew a Cars cushion today. For snuggling up into. And you know what? i don't give a damn, cause I love that boy so much, that I would sew anything Cars for him. Whatever makes him happy, makes me happy. Motherhood is as simple as that.

As always, I am the last one to discover a great series of books: The Troubleshooters.

When I went to Frankfurt in May to get together with my dear Seppie Sisters, one of them (Hey, Anna!) recommended the Troubleshooter series by Suzanne Brockmann to me. So far, I had only read one of her books, Infamous, which was not one of my favorites, so I totally skipped her other books. I started reading her SEAL Team Ten books, when they were published in German and thought they were okay.

I was not willing to spend money on books by an author, who didn't impress me much, so Anna offered to send me her books to give the series a try.

I liked book one a lot. I didn't finish reading the second. Total flop, IMO. Then it took me some time to grab book three and that - whooom! - got me hooked. Oh, how I loved the books from there on. I am reading book six right now and isn't it just great, that there are ten (!!) more to come?

Now excuse me, I gotta check out what Lieutenant Sam Starrett is up to.

Me, the naive side

I admit. I am naive. I like to see the good side in everything and everyone and every place. Such as London. I like to close my eyes when it comes to violence and abuse and all the bad stuff some people are able to perform. To me, the world is candy pink.

I am not dumb though. I do know that violence exists and crime and murder, assault and robbery. And I am sure as hell, that all this stuff is taking place in London. To me, it nevertheless is a wonderful and peaceful place on earth. Like every large city, it has its bad places to avoid, but in comparison to other countries/capitals it IS a good place to live. In peace. Without the fear of being hurt or injured by guns or knives or being murdered.

I am not giving up my point of view. No, not even after what's going on over there during the last week. I love London. I love the UK and their people and I know, cause I lived with them. In their country and their homes.

This is what we had today. Yummie!

You need:

1/2 zucchini

1 green & 1 red ball pepper

1 teaspoon olive oil

salt & pepper

1 bun or whatever kind of bread you prefer

mozzarella cheese

This is how you do it:

Make sure to chop the veggies as small as possible with a large knife. Fry in olive oil and season with salt & pepper. Put on your bun and gratinate with mozzarella cheese. Enjoy left-over veggies as a garnish. Inc ase you like to, you can sprinkle some dried oregano over your dish. I do.

Today, we are having fresh and homemade pizza for dinner. I like it as simple as possible. All I need is some good flour, yeast, salt, olive oil and water. As a topping, I like fresh tomato, basil and good cheese.

To make sure, that all this work in the kitchen is fun, I like some loud and good music. And my favorite apron. It was one of the first items, I sew and it holds a special place in my heart. Fabrics and pattern by Amy Butler. She's just a genius. Honestly.

Book: From Notting Hill with Love ... Actually.

She was just a girl standing in front of a boy ... wishing he looked more like Hugh Grant.

YES! That really is the title of a book. A great book. Written by Ali McNamara. It's her debut and I totally loved reading it.

Here's the plot: Scarlett loves the movies. So much, that she decides to take the chance to house-sit a home in Notting Hills for a month and to get away from her family and her fiané in order to prove them wrong about their opinion, that Scarlett is so tangled up in the world of movies, she is hardly living her real life. She wants them to believe that the world of movies is the real world and that movie incidents can happen to everybody all the time. Especially when it comes to rom coms (AE: chick flicks).

And Scarlett is so right: From the beginning she is stumbling from one movie scene to the next and meets some interesting people on her way. Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet and obviously Hugh Grant, godfather of rom com. And she meets Sean. Her next door neighbour. Who is so different from her fiancé David. More the Daniel Cleaver type of guy. And not so much Mark Darcy. So, as this is real life and not the movies, who will Scarlett decide for?

I think... This was a great read! Scarlett is a lovely character, although in the end she kind of annoyed me with her David-Sean-confusion. Honestly, the reader totally knows what's going on on page 50. How comes she has no idea? But then, there is a beautiful beautiful ending to the story, which I loved, loved, loved. So it kind of made up for the previous 50 pages or so.

Ali McNamara wrote a great debut. Funny, fast writing and lovely characters. I like the development, especially Scarlett's and Sean's. As single characters. Not as a couple.

Another plus is the additional information in the end of the book. There's a guide to explore Notting Hill and see all the good place. The house with the blue door. Or the Travel Book Shop. And you will get really fun information on the big chick flicks. Notting Hill, Pretty Woman and all the others. It's like the extras you get on a good DVD. Lovely. Such as the cover. Very cute! It's all shiny and blink blink. Girly. Two thumbs up for that.

Let's say, it's a good read. Typical chick lit. No big surprises there, but it totally entertains you for some hours. It has its weak moments, but pretty strong ones, too. Totally worth the money. BUT you have to be a lover of chick lit and rom coms. Honestly, this was SO my book. You might think it's total crap if you are not big with movies and the British way of writing romance novels.

This book was so my cup of tea. Happy Reading!

I decided to take a break on my English blog. It became more and more difficult for me to blog in English, not because of the language, but because my German soul is pretty strong at the moment. I feel like this blog is a lot of work and not so much fun anymore, so I decided to take a break. It won't be forever and I have no idea how long that break might be, but I will be back.

Weekend Plans

Sorry for being absent these last days. I started a new class on Mondaym which always is a bit chaotic and needs a lot of unexpected paperwork. Now, we are heading into the weekend with huge plans.

Will be working today (Saturday) and afterwards DH and me are attending a wedding, which I am totally looking forward to. I have plans to dance and swing with my wonderful husband, who has no idea so far. *g* We'll be home late and sleep in tomorrow. Then pick up DS at granny and get ready to celebrate the German soccer champion in Dortmund. Woohoo! Maybe do some BBQ (depends on the weather) or just relax on Sunday evening.

Now, my Seattle Latte is waiting and freshly baked rolls. Have a fun weekend, friends!

Summer

In case, you are a regular reader of misbehavinangel.com, you know about my attitude towards summer. I hate summer. I. Hate. Summer. All this cheering and virtually applauding on the blogs out there, because summer is just around the corner, it makes me gag. Ugh, summer is around the corner. Hallelujah! (Yes, that was sarcastic.) Well, and with it, there's the heat. The sweat! Ever sat in a café next to a sweating guy, who has no idea that there is a huge variety of deodorant available? Nope? I did and let me tell you, it's no fun.
Plus, what am I going to wear? I have huge calves. And a huge butt. And my upper arms are not as presentable either. So, any ideas? Yes, I know. I am beautiful. So are you, but why the hell do you have to wear skirts as short as THIS? It does not look good on you. Ah, it's summer. That's why. (And this was just generally spoken, didn't mean to offend you specifically *g*).
It's the season without taste in styling. Honestly, I am not alone. My butt is huge. In skirts, in jeans - in summer and in winter. BUT why do a lot of people wear cropped shirts showing their (very pale) nonexisting six-pack? I don't get it.
And then you need sunscreen. Ugh! It's sticky and it makes your clothing look ugly with light yellow stains. You know, when you're at the beach and adding sunscreen and then you hands are all sticky and sandy and dirty? I hate that. But don't listen to me, cause I got a tactile disfunction anyway. Oh, and then most of the suscreen doesn't smell really well. It smells like summer and well, I hate summer, so I hate that smell. Obvious, right?

The only good thing about summer is, that it leads to fall. Period. And no, don't argue. This topic is not open to discuss. I hate summer. And I want you to be with me, got it? Fine. One look around the corner and it is already May! Holy Moly, how did this happen? Only one week left of my 6-weeks-holiday and I cannot believe how time flew. I have been doing a lot of fun stuff and there wil be new and lovely Loop! scarfs for kids in my online shop within the follwing week, so make sure to check them out.

I have done a lot of reading. Something like a book a day or so. Currently, I am reading this lovely, lovely book by Ruth Saberton: Katy Carter Wants A Hero. Oh my, what a wonderful read. And a great cover. I also like the synopsis on the backside, which is just too funny just as the whole book is. You might wanna check it out.

Okay, I might be the last to have read these books, but nevertheless, I am blogging about it, in case someone out there has missed them as well.

I have told you about my blogger friend Sabrina before, right? She has this wonderful, wonderful website about romance and her recommendations usually are a huge hit for me. We seem to have a very similar taste regarding books, so I trust her 100%. When she tells me to read this or that, I do. Before my holiday, she suggest I should take the Sinners On Tour books by Olivia Cunning. It's erotica, which very often is crap, but I heard great stuff about these, so I brought them along. And I am so glad, I did.

Wowza! What wonderful books these are. Erotica, yes. Therefore pretty steamy. Really steamy! Smokin' hot! But apart from that, I love the characters, their development, the whole setting and the emotional depth, which is the most important part.

Do you read erotica? If you do, you might have experienced, what I did: Sex. Hot sex, but it totally doesn't work for me, when there are hardly any emotions involved. Everybody can write about sex, but there are only a few, who can write good erotica. Olivia Cunning can.

I read romance and I know, I am not alone with that. But my taste in music is somewhat special for a German audience. The artists I like are more or less unknown over here and most of my friends have no idea, what that crap is I am listening to. It's what I like. Simple as that. It's country and rock and pop and it pleases my ears and is good for my soul.

My all time favorite is Tim McGraw. You may call my mobile if you like and you will clang Last Dollar. Favorite song ever. And it's definitely no disadvantage that he is sexy as hell as well.
I am deeply in love with Rascal Flatts and their music. Plus, I like Kenney Chesney and yes, he was married to Rene Zellweger once and yes, I know that he looks like a turtle. His music is nice, though.

That's me. Reading what I like. Listening to whatever music I like. Doing it my way. Works for me.

I read romance. A lot. Although people keep on asking me, when will I finally start reading 'real' books. *sigh* Folks out there have no idea, what they are talking about.

I read romance because I read to be entertained. And sorry, but reading about dead bodies or horror or whatever does not entertain me. I do read other genres as well, but not that much.

I am married for nearly six years with being in a relationship with my husband for about ten years now. I love him from the bottom of my heart, but -honestly- it's not butterflies in my stomach, whenever I see him. It's deeper and stronger and wonderful, but sometimes I miss the feeling of falling in love. A feeling, which I can find again and again and again in romance novels. I can fall in love a hundreds of times and it will be different and exciting all the way. I can fall in love with different types of males, which is fun as well. It's not like we all have an NFL superstar or a detective alpha male at home, right? No, we don't and speaking for myself, I don't want to, but I can have an idea about how that might be in my novels. I like that.

Reading educates, right? And although I am admitting, that there is not too much education in romance, it taught me a lot of stuff. First of all, my English has improved a lot. I am a teacher of English as a foreign language and I studied it in university, but I still think my reading in English has made my skills much better.
I learned how to make a killer soda bread, how to start a car without keys and I now know how white rum is made. Plus, a thousand other things, which I just cannot remember now.

I like my novels steamy and yes, readers of romance and/or erotica are said to have a better sex life. Nah, this is not about me *coughcough*. I'm just sayin'.

So, here's to confess. Yes, I read romance. Do you?

I just finished my class today and now I've got six (!) weeks of holiday ahead. Yay! But then, what to do with all that time? So many things on my to-do-list. I really need it to stay focused. Here it is:

Clean out the fridge.
Sort through the kitchen cabinets and get rid of old stuff. Plus, give my open cabinets new style with lovely paper.
Visit the zoo with DS.
Spend lovely two weeks at the Dutch coast.
Sew, sew, sew. And offer lots of great lovelies in my shop for springtime.
Read at least 20 books.
Make more yoga.
Spend the morning in a nice coffee shop and sip latte.
Meet nice people.
Take naps.
More baking.
Finally find the time to make cake pops.
Meet the best friend and little Leo to have coffee and cake in the favorite bakery.
Watch all the movies, you usually don't have the time for.
See a movie in a theatre at noon, when you got the whole cinema for yourself.
Spend a morning on the couch.
Shopping.
Get all the old toys and stuff together and sell them at a flea market.
Declutter the home office (that alone might take a week!).
Do all the fun stuff, for which there is hardly any time during working times.

...to get hot and heavy with the firefighters of Station Five?? You better are, cause these books are so much fun to read.

I stumbled over the series via recommendation and it was so worth it. It all starts with the first book "Trial by Fire", which is about Howard "Six-Pack" Paxton, who likes three things in life: being a firefighter, riding his Harley and his bacherlorhood. But then curvy and lush Kat McKenna enters his life and nothing's like it was before.

It could be all too easy if it wasn't for a psychic arsenist, who threatens both their lives and their being together.

It took me some time to get into the writing of Jo Davis, but once I was in the story, I wasn't able to stop reading. Fast writing, great story and extraordinary style. Plus, pretty steamy between the sheets.

Hello, friends! It's me, the domestic goddess. I wasn't very domestic these last weeks, but with a day off today, I thought it might be time for all the postponed things. Mopping the floors, doing laundry, baking. Cupcake baking. Hmmm...what flavor?? I thought, I'd make some lemon cupcakes and in case you wanna know, how I do it, this is the recipe:

1 stick soft butter
1 cup sugar
2 organic eggs
juice from one lemon

Mix all the above ingredients until they make a smooth mixture. Then add

2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
lemon zest from one organic lemon
and milk.

Just enough milk to turn the dough into a slightly soft mixture.

Now bake in cupcake liners for about twenty minutes at medium heat. Let cool completely. For the icing, I mixed

1 package cream cheese
1 stick soft butter
1 cup powdered sugar
and lemon juice to make it taste yummie. Try and add as much as you like. I added some green food coloring, cause I think it looks nicer and makes the cupcakes somehow vintage. Don't you think?

I feel like my last week and Saturday was loaded with work and crap so I decided to make the best out of Sunday. Today it is cold, but very sunny. I like that. We jumped into the car and checked out a flea market. Back home, we had a lovely lunch and now I'll get some rest before meeting with some of the folks for coffee and cake later this afternoon. I've got 90 minutes to relax, which will be easy with a good book, a nice cup of cappuccino with caramel and maybe I can talk the DH into a foot rub. I hope you have/had a nice weekend. Although I had other plans, I am free for whatever I like to do this weekend. I was signed in for a Yoga against migraine class this and last weekend, but after attending last weekend, I decided to skip this week's class. It didn't feel like it would help me, plus I was not that much into the teacher, so I cancelled class today. That leaves me with some time on my hands and I have little plans. This is what I wanna do:

- read two books by Lisa Kleypas: Sugar Daddy & Blue Eyed Devil. I have started the first one, but am not sure whether I like it or not so far.

- sew at least one of the tote bags, I have already cut.

- shop undies and a costume for DS, which he will need for the daycare's carnival party on Friday. Yes, I could do it myself, but that's just too much work and money for him wearing it only half a day.

- exercise some yoga.

- make cake balls and try out candy melts. Maybe even decide to make cake owls, but am not sure yet.

- be crafty.

Ugh, I know... I am pretty busy with all kinds of stuff and very often just glad to get a bit of rest in the evenings, so I do not blog. I managed to read a bit these last weeks, but not as much as I usually do. These two were pretty good reads, IMO and I wanna recommend them to you on case you like romance.

She's Gone Country by Jane Porter Wow, what a book! It was recommended on some blogs and I finally picked it up, mainly cause I was promised hot alpha males. *g* But then it turned out to be one of the most wonderful and emotional books I have read in a long time. Especially when you are a mom to boys, you should check this one out, cause it's a lot about handling boys and letting them go once they are old enough. While reading, I laughed and cried and I cannot tell you, how much I liked this strong woman, whose story is told. Read!

Yours For The Taking by Robin Kaye Was another great read, which was unexpected. I just bought it, cause it was nice price at book depository and I thought the cover looked nice. (Yes, I am easy like that.) Turns out, that Ben and Gina were a fun couple to read about. Gina is a free spirit, strong and good-hearted. Ben is the typical alpha male, but with a soft spot inside. I loved their humor and how they spent some time all alone in a deep in the country cabin. Lovely twist of the story. Plus, I thought this book was pretty steamy and ~~I like that a lot~~ that's nice. Again, please read.

Sometimes, all a woman needs is some eye candy. Right, ladies? So, what do you think about my newest celebrity crush on Eddie Redmayne? A bit boyish, but I thought he was brilliant in The Pillars Of The Earth, playing Jack Jackson. Kind of got me hooked. Haven't seen him perform anything else apart from some little snippets I found on YouTube. But I think he's some pretty handsome guy.

Plus, there was Rufus Sewell in the series as well, who definitely belongs to the category of men, who look dumb without facial hair, but fabulous with it. See for yourself:

I was just watching an interview with actor Eddie Redmayne, in which he talked about inspiration and mentorship, so I was wondering who or what inspired or inspires you. Here are some people, who inspire me immensely day in, day out. On a creative level, that is.

First of all, the designs and creations of Amy Butler are a huge source of inspiration to me. I like the way she combines colors and pattern and how easy, but effective her creations are.

The blog and crafts of Erin from Sunshine & Carousels inspire me, because she didn't just dream about her own creative business, she just headed into it fast forward and it is a huge success. Also, her crafts are too cute to be true.

I think Martha Stewart is pretty much inspiring, although I know, that she has a huge team developing recipes and crafts. But nevertheless her website is an endless source for ideas to me.

Plot: Jane Stuart is a mid-western girl from Kirland, Indiana, but then one day she inherits her late grandmother's 1920s Parisian dress and everything changes. Within a week she works three different jobs experiencing the movie industry, fashion world of Paris and the celebrity buzz of NYC. All of this is just possible with the magic of her grandmother's "dangerous dress" and it's that dress that makes her come back to Kirland and find the man of her dreams.

I think ... Wow! Sometimes is the unexpected books, that make you feel good and wanna read more by that particular author. I haven't heard of Julia Holden before. I never stumbled over her books, English or German. But then I found this book (German translation) in a second hand book store and bought it, cause the cover looked nice and I thought it wouldn't do any harm to spend 3 Euro. I was so wrong!

I like the writing, which is first-person-narration, but pretty good. It's fast and funny and made me laugh out loud from time to time. This week with Jane is a wild ride, but I believed every word, although I don't think such a story would ever happen.

This book is more chick-lit than romance, but I liked it nevertheless. If you are looking for something steamy, keep away. If you are looking for a good read, run and buy. Oh, how do you like the cover? I think it's totally amazing. Too cute to be true, isn't it?

I am a big fan of Ree Drummond, the Pioneer Woman. Her blog is amazing. Her writing is great. She has a great sense of humor and her recipes are to die for. BUT... I just wanted to pre-order her new book "Black Heels To Tractor Wheels" and then I saw the price. Holy Moly! Honestly?? They wanna have €20,99 for that book? They must be kidding, right? I mean, come on! That book has been published on her website before. Okay, it was revised and it's hard cover and all, but that is - IMO - way too much money. I won't buy it. Unless, they sell it in paperback and reasonably priced. Because although it's the Pioneer Woman, I am not willing to pay any price. Period.

I Miss My Sewsie!

My beloved Sewsie is gone for service and I miss her so much. There is a quilt on my desk waiting to be finished. There is an order of ten baby onsies, which have to be shipped in January and I wanna do some projects for my boy, which I cannot wait to do. Isn't it ironic, that I didn't feel like sewing all through December and now that I cannot sew, it is all I wanna do??? Please, dear Sewsie, come back home!

I love coffee. I like it strong, with a lot of hot milk and a bit of spices. Caramel or peppermint or whatever. Not syrup, but freshly ground spices. Usually mixed with a bit of sugar. I could die for a cup like that. I do not drink drip brew. Nope, I like it hot and fresh and with a special amount of pressure. Arabica only. No other coffee bean makes it to my machine. I desperately need a cup before heading into the day. I have a cup each afternoon and sometimes another decaf cup in the evening. How about you?

Are you in love with In Death?

Readers, I have a serious question to ask you. I know, that some of you are real fans of J.D. Robb's (Nora Roberts) In Death series and that's why I gave it more than one try. I liked some of them, I didn't like others, but most of all I cannot stand Eve Dallas. Yeah Sabrina, I know you wanna kill me right now, but I just cannot get into the character and I totally am not into the science fiction aspect of the series. I think some books are good, because I liked the stories and how they developed, but I am not a fan of the series in general. Plus, I am so not into man with ponytail, so Rourke is not my kind of hero, although I would love him as a character if it wasn't for his hair. Yes, I am simple like that.

So, what do you think about it (the books, not the ponytail)? Do you like them? Or not? Any why?

So I decided to split up the English and German part and that's why misbehavinangel.com will be English only from now on. I hope you don't mind. *g* I wanna focus much more on my reading and as I usually read English, this is not very interesting for my German readers. In opposite to that, I think you might not be too interested in German TV or celebrities, so that's why there is a new German cyber home for my German speaking friends right here. Plus, the Christmas Reading Challenge blog is going into break until next season, so there will be no more updates. Thanks for being part of that, too.

Okay, let's talk bags, ladies. How do you like the Union Jack bag? I saw it at Accessorize in London and as there are lots of their stores within Zone One, I picked it up various times a day. I then thought, I had enough bags and didn't buy it. But now, I feel a desperate need for that bag. What do you think?

With my deep love for Lush, I obviously need the lovely gingerbread house filled with goodies. Hmmm, the smell! And the Tim McGraw album? Totally gotta get that.

Then there's the iPod Nano. I know, it's a dream. I am more than sure, that Santa won't bring that one. We are on a budget and this item is way too much, but never give up dreaming, right? There might be a Christmas Miracle around the corner (I am reading too many Christmas novels, ya see?).

Ja, ich bin spät dran mit meinem Wunschzettel, aber da ja heute mal wieder ein unerwartet freier Tag vor mir liegt, dachte ich, ich mache noch schnell einen. Also, lieber Weihnachtsmann (auch bekannt als Ehemann), hier ist die Liste. Kaufen, einpacken, unter den Baum, fertig! Danke! *g*

Okay Mädels, wer hat Lust über Taschen zu reden? Seht ihr die Tasche mit dem Union Jack? Ich habe sie bei Accessorize in London entdeckt und da es in Zone 1, also London Zentrum, an jeder Ecke einen Laden von denen gibt, hatte ich die Tasche mehrmals am Tag in der Hand. Aber dann habe ich gedacht, dass ich ja genug Taschen habe und sie nicht gekauft. Aber jetzt, muss ich sie unbedingt haben. Ihr versteht schon!

Ganz klar ist ja auch, dass dieses süße Lebkuchenhaus, gefüllt mit allerlei wunderbaren Dingen von Lush einfach auf meinen Wunschzettel gehört, oder? Hmmm, ich mag, wie die Seifen von denen duften. Und das neue Tim McGraw Album? Liegt unterm Weihnachtsbaum oder wird direkt am ersten Feiertag runtergeladen.

Dann wäre da noch der iPod Nano. Ein Wunsch, der auch genau das bleiben wird. Ich weiß ja, dass er den finanziellen Rahmen sprengt, aber man wird ja wohl noch träumen dürfen. Und vielleicht gibt's ja doch noch ein Weihnachtswunder (Ihr seht, ich lese zuviele Weihnachtsromane).

Homesick.

Sometimes, I feel homesick. Although I am at home, I deeply miss my home at heart. London. I cannot explain why and when exactly this happens, but today, I feel miserable, just because I wanna experience an over-crowded tube or the soft voice & sound of a man and his guitar at Covent Garden. I like the cold and how busy the city is right before Christmas. I like the fact, that there are 197 Starbucks with a London postcode. Amazing, huh? You have to do minor traveling for a Starbucks over here!

I miss the multi-cultural people, who do not even realize how multi-cultural they are. And I like how amazing a lot of London based women are dressed. I envy the fact, that there is an Anthroplogie store on Regent Street and the number of Next stores within five miles. I miss how I feel home and loved and how everything inside me gets silent and satisfied as soon as I get off a plane at Gatwick. I miss the London atmosphere, which is pure magic to me.

I miss London. Today, I miss it a lot.

Es gibt Tage, an denen fühle ich mich unglücklich und habe furchtbares Heimweh, denn obwohl ich doch zu Hause bin, so fehlt mir doch der liebste Fleck Erde, der schon lange einen Platz in meinem Herzen erobert hat. London. Ich kann nicht erklären, warum das so ist, oder wann genau es auftritt, ich weiß nur, dass ich mich so sehr nach einer überfüllten U-Bahn sehne. Oder nach dem leisen Gesang und den wunderbaren Tönen einer Gitarre am Covent Garden. Ich mag die Kälte und Nässe und die überfüllte Stadt so kurz vor Weihnachten. Man kann es kaum glauben, aber es gibt doch tatsächlich 197 Starbucks mir einer Londoner Postleitzahl! Das muss man sich mal vorstellen, muss man doch hier zumindest mit der Regionalbahn zum nächsten Kaffeeladen fahren.

Ich mag, wie multikulturell diese Stadt ist, ohne überhaupt zu bemerken, dass es so ist. Und ich stehe total darauf, wie sich die Frauen in London kleiden. Ich bin neidisch, denn es gibt diesen riesigen Anthropolgie Laden auf der Regent Streeet und außerdem noch unzählige Filialen von Next innerhalb von fünf Meilen. Ich vermisse es, wie alles in mir still wird und wie glücklich, geliebt und geborgen ich mich fühle, sobald ich das Flugzeug in Gatwick verlasse. Ich vermisse die Atmosphäre in London, die für mich reine Magie ist.

Ich vermisse London. Heute ganz besonders.

Yes, I am alive. Yes, I am the world's most lazy blogger. And finally, yes! My favorite word is procrastination. I am sorry. I am fighting a cold for the last week or so and I was working the weekend, which was a blast with me having no voice and doing oral exams. Yeah, I know. That was fun. Plus, I just don't find myself getting the Christmas spirit this season. Me, lover of winter and all Christmassy doesn't find the spirit. Holy Moly! Something's really wrong here.

I have been doing some fun stuff in my kitchen lately and I wanna show you what was going on. First of all, who likes pirate cake?! You do? Well, so do we. And what's better to celebrate the birthday of your precious little boy?

This is a Red Velvet Cake without the red and with chocolate buttercream. The coconut was colored with liquid blue food color. Just use an old jar or a glass with lit and shake the coconut and color until you like the result. Tada!

Of course, there was some Christmas baking. Like these gingerbread man, which are yummie but not gingerbread. Ha, gotcha! I made simple butter cutouts from Serena's new book The Farm Chicks Christmas and used royal icing to make the decor.

And then I made something for the kids' birthday party, which was inspired by all the lovely food on German Christmas Markets. It involves lots of chocolate, so it has to be good.

Yes, that's fruit. Dipped in melted chocolate. Sprinkled with multi colored sprinkles and oh so yummie. And in case you feel hungry, such as in hungry for, you know, a snack. You should grab some other lovely food, such as one of the gingerbread man and dip them into the hot richness of the chocolate. Don't let cool. Eat right away. Ahhhhh! See, I told you!

What I've Been Up To

I feel like I haven't really posted these last weeks, but there was so much going on, I just didn't find the time or energy to sit down and write. Here's a little update on what was going on:

- We celebrated Luke's 5th birthday on Tuesday, but have another party going on on Monday. Haven't done any preparations yet, but then it's still time, right?

- Little Leo was baptized and we had a lovely celebration. The church service was wonderful and DH and me are happy to be godparents for such a great kid.

- I did a lot of Christmas baking and have pics to prove so. But they are on my iBook and I am using DH's Mac right now. I'll post them soon.

- Tomorrow is a double birthday in our family. We will be attending great-granny's birthday and afterwards head over to Little Leo's second birthday party. Yes, we like parties.

- My cousin is moving in with her BF and she had a wardrobe to give away. Ours was ten years old and we bought it very cheap back then, when we were students, so it really had to be replaced. My cousin will be bringing hers around tomorrow, so DH and me had to visit Ikea today to buy some additional stuff and clean out the old wardrobe. Honestly, my husband has twice as many clothes and shoes, than I have! No, I am not joking!

- I am busy with my Christmas Reading Challenge blog, which needs a lot of time and obviously reading, so my blogger home MisbehavinAngel is a bit abandoned.

- This must be one of the most boring posts I have ever done. Sorry, folks! I am reading your blogs and trying to be updated. Have a nice weekend!

Luke Is 5!

No More Fall Into Reading

Herewith, I officially declare fall for being over. When you are in the US, this is Thanksgiving week. When you are in Germany, such as I am, this is the week before the first Advent. Fall definitely is over. Period.

So, with the end of fall and the beginning of the Christmas season, I have the spirit coming to my soul. I started decorating and preparing stuff for the holidays today and dug out the quiet impressive collection of Christmas books we have. But then, where to store them for the next couple of weeks. I found this lovely little basket for a ridiculous price, so I had to bring it home. It found a perfect place on the little step to the living room and holds all our books. And the little bell? Honestly, that's a cutie, huh? I brought home some of them, cause I think I wouldn't survive Christmas without them. They are life savers so to say (I can see DH rolling his eyes, but I don't care. *waving* Hi, Honey!) Have you started your Christmas decorations yet?

Hiermit erkläre ich den Herbst offiziell als beendet. Solltet ihr aus den USA lesen, befindet ihr euch kurz vor Thanksgiving. Seid ihr in Deutschland, so wie ich, steht der erste Advent vor der Tür. Der Herbst ist also ganz sicher vorbei. Keine Diskussion.

Da nun also der Herbst zuende ist, läute ich mal die Weihnachtssaison ein. Ich fühle schon, wie mich so langsam die Festtagsstimmung übermannt, also habe ich angefangen heute ein bisschen zu dekorieren und vorzubereiten. Dazu gehört auch, dass ich am Wochenende schon mal unsere recht umfangreiche Sammlung and Weihnachtsbüchern hervor gekramt habe. Aber wohin jetzt damit? Da lief mir doch zufällig *räusper* dieses nette Körbchen über den Weg. Genau richtig in der Größe, hat es nun einen Platz auf der kleinen Stufe zum Wohnzimmer gefunden. Und das Glöckchen? Süß, nicht? Davon sind auch ein paar in die Einkaufstasche gewandert, denn ich glaube nicht, dass ich es ohne Glöckchen bis Weihnachten geschafft hätte (Ich kann förmlich sehen, wie mein Mann die Augen verdreht *wink* Hallo, Schatz!) Habt ihr schon angefangen zu dekorieren?
