Happy New Year!

Everybody, I hope you are having a wonderful New Year's Eve and a fun celebration! 

We are having a pretty quiet evening and hopefully, the next year will be exactly that after being a bit turbulent in 2010. I have some fun ideas and plans for this blog in the new year and hopefully, you will be with me all the way.

News! News! News!

Everybody, I hope you had a great Christmas and you are ready to head into 2011 with me. In case, you are an English speaking reader, there is not too much news for you, but I had the feeling, that I wasn't able to satisfy me and my readers by blogging bilingual. So I decided to split up the English and German part and that's why misbehavinangel.com will be English only from now on. I hope you don't mind. *g* I wanna focus much more on my reading and as I usually read English, this is not very interesting for my German readers. In opposite to that, I think you might not be too interested in German TV or celebrities, so that's why there is a new German cyber home for my German speaking friends right here. Plus, the Christmas Reading Challenge blog is going into break until next season, so there will be no more updates. Thanks for being part of that, too.

Ihr Lieben, ich hoffe, ihr hatte ein tolles Weihnachtsfest und seid bereit, euch mit mir gemeinsam ins Jahr 2011 zu stürzen. Weil ich schon länger das Gefühl hatte, dass meine englischsprachige und deutsche Leserschaft sich nicht mehr unter einen Hut bringen lassen, gibt es ab sofort einen neuen Blog nur auf Deutsch für euch hier. Misbehavinangel.com wird ein rein englischsprachiger Blog, und ich möchte mich hier mehr auf Bücher konzentrieren, die ich ja in der Regel auf Englisch lese, was für euch nicht so interessant sein dürfte. Ich würde mich freuen, wenn ich euch ab sofort beim LauseEngel begrüßen dürfte!

Wish List / Wunschzettel

I know, I am late for my wish list, but now that I do have another unexpected snow day, I thought I'd go for it. So, please dear Santa (aka husband) grab stuff from my list, wrap it and put it under the tree. Thanks! *g*

Okay, let's talk bags, ladies. How do you like the Union Jack bag? I saw it at Accessorize in London and as there are lots of their stores within Zone One, I picked it up various times a day. I then thought, I had enough bags and didn't buy it. But now, I feel a desperate need for that bag. What do you think?

With my deep love for Lush, I obviously need the lovely gingerbread house filled with goodies. Hmmm, the smell! And the Tim McGraw album? Totally gotta get that.

Then there's the iPod Nano. I know, it's a dream. I am more than sure, that Santa won't bring that one. We are on a budget and this item is way too much, but never give up dreaming, right? There might be a Christmas Miracle around the corner (I am reading too many Christmas novels, ya see?).

Ja, ich bin spät dran mit meinem Wunschzettel, aber da ja heute mal wieder ein unerwartet freier Tag vor mir liegt, dachte ich, ich mache noch schnell einen. Also, lieber Weihnachtsmann (auch bekannt als Ehemann), hier ist die Liste. Kaufen, einpacken, unter den Baum, fertig! Danke! *g*


Okay Mädels, wer hat Lust über Taschen zu reden? Seht ihr die Tasche mit dem Union Jack? Ich habe sie bei Accessorize in London entdeckt und da es in Zone 1, also London Zentrum, an jeder Ecke einen Laden von denen gibt, hatte ich die Tasche mehrmals am Tag in der Hand. Aber dann habe ich gedacht, dass ich ja genug Taschen habe und sie nicht gekauft. Aber jetzt, muss ich sie unbedingt haben. Ihr versteht schon!


Ganz klar ist ja auch, dass dieses süße Lebkuchenhaus, gefüllt mit allerlei wunderbaren Dingen von Lush einfach auf meinen Wunschzettel gehört, oder? Hmmm, ich mag, wie die Seifen von denen duften. Und das neue Tim McGraw Album? Liegt unterm Weihnachtsbaum oder wird direkt am ersten Feiertag runtergeladen.


Dann wäre da noch der iPod Nano. Ein Wunsch, der auch genau das bleiben wird. Ich weiß ja, dass er den finanziellen Rahmen sprengt, aber man wird ja wohl noch träumen dürfen. Und vielleicht gibt's ja doch noch ein Weihnachtswunder (Ihr seht, ich lese zuviele Weihnachtsromane).


Was ist auf eurem Wunschzettel?

Homesick.

Sometimes, I feel homesick. Although I am at home, I deeply miss my home at heart. London. I cannot explain why and when exactly this happens, but today, I feel miserable, just because I wanna experience an over-crowded tube or the soft voice & sound of a man and his guitar at Covent Garden. I like the cold and how busy the city is right before Christmas. I like the fact, that there are 197 Starbucks with a London postcode. Amazing, huh? You have to do minor traveling for a Starbucks over here!

I miss the multi-cultural people, who do not even realize how multi-cultural they are. And I like how amazing a lot of London based women are dressed. I envy the fact, that there is an Anthroplogie store on Regent Street and the number of Next stores within five miles. I miss how I feel home and loved and how everything inside me gets silent and satisfied as soon as I get off a plane at Gatwick. I miss the London atmosphere, which is pure magic to me.

I miss London. Today, I miss it a lot.

Es gibt Tage, an denen fühle ich mich unglücklich und habe furchtbares Heimweh, denn obwohl ich doch zu Hause bin, so fehlt mir doch der liebste Fleck Erde, der schon lange einen Platz in meinem Herzen erobert hat. London. Ich kann nicht erklären, warum das so ist, oder wann genau es auftritt, ich weiß nur, dass ich mich so sehr nach einer überfüllten U-Bahn sehne. Oder nach dem leisen Gesang und den wunderbaren Tönen einer Gitarre am Covent Garden. Ich mag die Kälte und Nässe und die überfüllte Stadt so kurz vor Weihnachten. Man kann es kaum glauben, aber es gibt doch tatsächlich 197 Starbucks mir einer Londoner Postleitzahl! Das muss man sich mal vorstellen, muss man doch hier zumindest mit der Regionalbahn zum nächsten Kaffeeladen fahren.


Ich mag, wie multikulturell diese Stadt ist, ohne überhaupt zu bemerken, dass es so ist. Und ich stehe total darauf, wie sich die Frauen in London kleiden. Ich bin neidisch, denn es gibt diesen riesigen Anthropolgie Laden auf der Regent Streeet und außerdem noch unzählige Filialen von Next innerhalb von fünf Meilen. Ich vermisse es, wie alles in mir still wird und wie glücklich, geliebt und geborgen ich mich fühle, sobald ich das Flugzeug in Gatwick verlasse. Ich vermisse die Atmosphäre in London, die für mich reine Magie ist.

Ich vermisse London. Heute ganz besonders.

Uhhmmm....

Yes, I am alive. Yes, I am the world's most lazy blogger. And finally, yes! My favorite word is procrastination. I am sorry. I am fighting a cold for the last week or so and I was working the weekend, which was a blast with me having no voice and doing oral exams. Yeah, I know. That was fun. Plus, I just don't find myself getting the Christmas spirit this season. Me, lover of winter and all Christmassy doesn't find the spirit. Holy Moly! Something's really wrong here.

I have been doing some fun stuff in my kitchen lately and I wanna show you what was going on. First of all, who likes pirate cake?! You do? Well, so do we. And what's better to celebrate the birthday of your precious little boy?

This is a Red Velvet Cake without the red and with chocolate buttercream. The coconut was colored with liquid blue food color. Just use an old jar or a glass with lit and shake the coconut and color until you like the result. Tada!

Of course, there was some Christmas baking. Like these gingerbread man, which are yummie but not gingerbread. Ha, gotcha! I made simple butter cutouts from Serena's new book The Farm Chicks Christmas and used royal icing to make the decor.

And then I made something for the kids' birthday party, which was inspired by all the lovely food on German Christmas Markets. It involves lots of chocolate, so it has to be good.

Yes, that's fruit. Dipped in melted chocolate. Sprinkled with multi colored sprinkles and oh so yummie. And in case you feel hungry, such as in hungry for, you know, a snack. You should grab some other lovely food, such as one of the gingerbread man and dip them into the hot richness of the chocolate. Don't let cool. Eat right away. Ahhhhh! See, I told you!

What I've Been Up To

I feel like I haven't really posted these last weeks, but there was so much going on, I just didn't find the time or energy to sit down and write. Here's a little update on what was going on:

- We celebrated Luke's 5th birthday on Tuesday, but have another party going on on Monday. Haven't done any preparations yet, but then it's still time, right?

- Little Leo was baptized and we had a lovely celebration. The church service was wonderful and DH and me are happy to be godparents for such a great kid.

- I did a lot of Christmas baking and have pics to prove so. But they are on my iBook and I am using DH's Mac right now. I'll post them soon.

- Tomorrow is a double birthday in our family. We will be attending great-granny's birthday and afterwards head over to Little Leo's second birthday party. Yes, we like parties.

- My cousin is moving in with her BF and she had a wardrobe to give away. Ours was ten years old and we bought it very cheap back then, when we were students, so it really had to be replaced. My cousin will be bringing hers around tomorrow, so DH and me had to visit Ikea today to buy some additional stuff and clean out the old wardrobe. Honestly, my husband has twice as many clothes and shoes, than I have! No, I am not joking!

- I am busy with my Christmas Reading Challenge blog, which needs a lot of time and obviously reading, so my blogger home MisbehavinAngel is a bit abandoned.

- This must be one of the most boring posts I have ever done. Sorry, folks! I am reading your blogs and trying to be updated. Have a nice weekend!
