DH and me had a free evening yesterday as DS was staying overnight with my parents, so we decided to go out for a movie and made a great choice:
Be prepared that with this post I will really talk you into seeing this movie, cause I loved it, loved it, loved it!
I am just overwhelmed with pictures, story and feelings. All of this movie is too much. Nicole Kidman is too perfect. Hugh Jackman is too sexy. The Australian landscape is too beautiful and the story is too manyfold.
This picture is the perfect combination of Gone With The Wind, Pearl Harbor, Dances With Wolves and The Thorn Birds. Pure Romance. Pure Action. Pure Feeling. Pure Nature.
It's like eating rich chocolate cake and feeling stuffed afterwards. You know you shouldn't have eaten it, but you are sure that the next time you'll definately do it again.
Don't forget, here is a romance junkie speaking. I have no idea about the brilliance of camera techniques or directory. I cannot say if this movie is art or not, but I know that it is entertaining and it got me at the very first second. To me, that's what a movie needs.
Apart from all that, I have no idea how I was able to ignore the existence of Hugh Jackman. Holy Shit! That man is HOT! I was a bit irritated about his beard in the beginning, but then I got used to it and even liked him more with it than without. His performance was great. Full of clichees, but I loved it. Jeez, that guy got muscles. Run and see!
I am not a big fan of Nicole Kidman. She was more my kind of actress when she was younger. I liked her in Days of Thunder, but then she got hooked with Tom Cruise and, honestly, that weird man makes them all crazy. She did a good job with Australia, though. That inborn stiffness she has was great for her role and it was nice to see the characters development.
I liked the music, too. It got bad critics, but then again, I am a romance junkie. Love that Elton John song Drover's Ballad, which is pure trash, but oh so beautiful.
To sum it up, I can only recommend the movie. I know that most of my blog readers are Seppies or other romance fans and you'll love it. It's about three hours, so be prepared. As I already said, I went to see it with my husband and he liked it, too. Although I guess it was more the Pearl Harbor part.
Phew, I have never written such a long critic about a movie or book or whatever, so you can see how much it means to me. Happy watching!
As every year, I make my resolutions public to have some pressure when it comes to make them happen. This doesn't always work and is not a hundred percent trustworthy, but I'll give it another try. Here we go:
1. Lose more weight. Maybe 'skinny' jeans will come true in 2009.
2. Write and publish a book.
3. Learn how to knit properly.
4. Learn to be more patient.
5. Go on holiday to a destination other than the Netherlands.
6. Do Christmas Shopping in London.
7. Renovate the home office.
8. Renovate the kitchen.
9. Call my brother more often.
10. Don't freak out for no reason.
You?
..to let ya know, that I survived Christmas. Still have one Christmas appointment to do tomorrow, but then we're done. The holidays are just not long enough for all our relatives.
A lot of relaxing and free time over here, yet I am lazy to blog. :) Hope that's going to be better after the weekend. I am just not used to be surrounded by my little family 24/7. LOL It's strange and keeps me from doing all the good stuff, blogging or reading, for example.
But then I enjoy the quality time we have. I'll let ya know what's going on. And then there is my new cooking blog being planned and coming. Stay tuned for 2009.
1. I am off! Yeah! Only four days of work in January and then my new class starts in February. Until then, I am off!!
2. I recently learned that it's procastination and not procrastination. - Okay, forget this. I looked it up and it definately has an 'r' in it. Thanks for talking me into that, J!
3. Holidays do not help when it comes to weight loss.
4. We've had fever, nausea, sore throat and cough. I don't think there is anything left for the holidays. At least, I hope so.
5. I decided to take a shop break, so there is a total sale on my Dawanda Shop. It's all between 1 and 5 Euro. Run and buy.
6. I love Christmas!
7. I have found this fabulous blog. Go and check out Toni.
I am a happy, happy woman! There are two reasons why:
Number 1: I have lost about nine kilo of weight. About 19.8 lbs, that is. Therefore I just decided today to do myself a favor and shop clothes.
Number 2: While doing research on the internet about what to shop and what the must-haves of the season are, I found the German online shop of next.uk!! Imagine me doing happy dances. They've got the most wonderful stuff to wear and SIL and me use to shop there for hours when we visit London. I don't have to buy a ticket and fly over there anymore, I can shop from my very own home. Jeez, gotta spend a fortune there! I am off and running. Virtually, that is.

Happy pre-christmas week, everybody! Only five more days to work before the holidays!!
I had a great start into the weekend with a video night with my friend T. yesterday. We watched some Doctor's Diary and had some nice chatting.
DH stayed with a friend overnight and it seems as if they had a blast, cause he is taking an afternoon nap for 2 1/2 hours by now. DS is too, so I am enjoying a free afternoon with coffee, candles, a good book and blogging.
I am really into the mood for christmas now, which came really late this year. I usually start decorating in early November, but didn't feel like it so far. Now, the mood got me. The place is decorated and we wana go and buy a tree today. We have planned a visit at some nearby christmas market, too, which takes place only this weekend is so romatic. It is located in the yard of an old castle and I just love it. It's a must go at christmas time.
I spend the biggest part of the afternoon with this book I recently bought at Amazon. I am using DH's Mac and I am really dumb with those, so I can't post a picture, but you will find it easily by searching Amazon. It's Martha Stewart's Classic Crafts and Recipes inspired by the Songs of Christmas and I love it.
Oh, did you recognize, that I love quiet a few things when it comes to christmas? Yep, you're right. Just love it. The mood, the decoration, the food.
Have a wonderful christmassy weekend, everybody!
I am a seasonal TV watcher. I love Gilmore Girls in fall, cause it just fits my mood. I enjoy watching concert DVDs in summer, preferably Robbie Williams.
Now, that Christmas is close, I am watching "Love Actually" over and over. It'S one of my favorite seasonal movies and this scene is just perfect.
My little nephew Leonas was born on Dec, 5th at 7.20 am in Dortmund/Germany. He didn't have an easy start and had to stay at the NICU for two days. He is staying in hospital with mommy until Wednesday, when they are supposed to go home.
Today, when DS visited the christmas market with granny and great-granny, I had the chance to spend an hour of chatting and baby watching with SIL. It was great to talk to her after the last days and Leonas is such a sunshine.
Here we are, Leo and auntie, friends already.
Someone complained about the photo of my celebrity crush I posted in my last blog entry. Seems as if only parts of him are not enough, so I am posting some really hot stuff here. Have a great week, everybody!

April had this on her blog and I just loved it. Check out the instructions and play along!
Here are the instructions:
You answer twelve questions about yourself. You enter each answer into Flickr's search engine. You pick a photo from the first three pages of results and put its URL into this rather cool mosaic maker. Then you post the resulting mosaic in your blog.
The questions are:
1. First Name
2. Favorite Food
3. Hometown
4. Favorite Color
5. Celebrity Crush
6. Favorite Drink
7. Dream Holiday
8. Favorite Dessert
9. What I Want To Be When I Grow Up
10. What I Love Most In The World
11. One Word That Describes Me
12. My Blogger Name
It's DS's birthday party on Saturday and the preparations reached the peek. We invited four children, but three of them have little siblings who will come, too. They are all under three years old, so they won't stay alone. That's why there will be a total of eight grown-ups, too. Additionally, it's Dec,6th, which is celebrated with the appearance of St.Nikolaus in Germany, so my poor friend T. will have to wear a costume and bring sweets and small presents. (Boy, I am so thankful for that. You can't imagine.)
I just packed seven little present bags with a book, some bath color and chocolate each. They look so lovely with small name cards and a red ribbon. I'd love to post a photo, but DH took the camera to work. (No idea, what he's supposed to photograph there.)
Anyway, I think I won't be busy bloggin' the next days with preparations, party and regeneration. LOL
My blogger friend Teble has this amazing new Background from Cutest Blog on the Block and I had to run and get me one, too. I love it and I hope so do you. Opinions?
